Heavily influenced by blues greats of the past and present, Space Octopus has forged a growing reputation in and around Rochester for high-energy, engaging performances that are sure to please any audience.  Their set lists typically comprise a wide array of classics from the 60's and early 70's, and often include selections from the The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers Band, The Doors, and others, while also paying homage to legends like Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, and BB King.  With their earthy tone and engaging stage presence, this is a band you don't want to miss!


Space Octopus is led by homegrown vocalist, Keith Betz.  Keith's deep knowledge and love of music serve as a foundation for the band's on-stage explorations.  And Keith's rich, soulful voice provides an emotive vehicle that is central to every Space Octopus show.

 
Complimenting Keith's deep and expressive lines is bass player and back-up vocalist Dean Hutchinson.  An accomplished bass player with a long history of live performances, Dean's bright and spirited voice adds a perfect touch of sparkle and grit throughout the night.


Driving the rhythm section is drummer Keith Bardwell.  Keith's funky, percussive style of play is the engine that fuels Octopus gigs night after night.  Keith also brings a jazz influence and feel to some of the songs performed by the band.  


Ripping it up on lead guitar is Chris Palmeri.  Don't let Chris's calm demeanor and relaxed stage presence fool you.  His lead playing is exceptional, and he is always ready to throw down an extended jam, often pushing the Octopus into uncharted waters.  


Across the stage from Chris, guitarist Dom Ciminello delivers bluesy rhythm and lead lines that give Space Octopus its signature sound.   Through years of playing together, Dom and Chris have forged a strong musical bond that manifests itself as the pair seamlessly transition between rhythm play and complimentary solos.

The five members of Space Octopus share a love of creating and performing live music that is apparent from the first note to the encore.  They are a band that you simply must hear to believe!
